You ask,
we dink.

Still curious? That’s what we love to hear.

How do I choose the right session?+

Every Bayside session on OpenSports includes its level and requirements. Use our Which session is best for me? guide to find your fit, then read the current OpenSports listing before booking.

I’m a beginner — can I play at Bayside?+

Yes — once you have learnt the basics. If you have never played before, start with a local Learn to Play session. When you understand the rules, scoring and basic shots, Bayside’s Novice sessions are a good next step. See the session guide before booking.

Can I play as a guest if I’m not a Bayside member?+

Often, yes. Club members receive priority for many sessions, then any remaining places may be released to guests — commonly the day before the session, or at the event host’s discretion. You’ll need current Pickleball Victoria membership, or membership with another Pickleball Australia affiliate, for insurance. Check each OpenSports listing for its exact guest-release timing and requirements and pricing.

What is Pickleball Victoria membership?+

Pickleball Victoria (PV) is the state body that connects affiliated clubs and players across Victoria. Your registration also includes the national Pickleball Australia component — one membership that helps keep the sport organised, recognised and growing.

Why do I need PV membership to play at Bayside?+

Bayside is a Pickleball Victoria-affiliated club, so every club player needs current PV membership. It supports insurance arrangements for affiliated play, a clear code of conduct and the safe, well-run sessions our volunteers work hard to deliver. It’s less admin than it sounds — and more peace of mind when you’re on court.

I already have Pickleball Victoria membership — what now?+

Great — you don’t need to start again. Keep your PV membership current, submit a Bayside membership application, and let the club know your PV member details when a club place becomes available. You can check or update your registration through Pickleball Victoria.

Why do I need a membership application?+

We’re a volunteer-run club with four indoor courts, and we want every member to have a great experience. There is a limit on the number of members we can take on, so when spots open, we review membership applications in order.

How long does membership application processing take?+

There isn’t a fixed processing time. We can only add new members when there is capacity at the club, so applications stay on our list until a place becomes available. We review them in order and will contact you as soon as we can offer a membership place.

Where are you, and is there parking?+

We play at 221 Thomas Street, Hampton, with ample free parking on-site. Check your session details before setting off, and bring your best “I’m ready to rally” energy.

I’ve never played — where should I start?+

Find a nearby club that runs learn-to-play sessions and ask what they provide and what to bring. It’s the best way to learn the basics in a supportive setting before joining social play. Pickleball Victoria’s club directory is a useful place to start.

What are the rules?+

Pickleball follows its own rules for serving, scoring and court positioning — including the two-bounce rule and the non-volley zone (the “kitchen”). For the full official rulebook, see Pickleball Australia’s rules and scoring guide.

Do I need my own paddle?+

There are paddles available to use if you don't have one with you, but only a limited number, so bring your own if you can. Comfy shoes and a water bottle are usually a good start.

Can I come on my own?+

Absolutely — lots of people do. Social sessions are designed to mix you into games, so you can meet players rather than hunt down a doubles partner.

Still got a curly one?

We’re all ears.
